Referring a patient

We offer an emergency service on a 24 hour/7 day basis. A surgeon is always available to discuss cases and give advice over the phone either to determine whether referral is necessary or if referral is not possible.

Our reception staff will offer you an appointment for your client. If this is not suitable then we can make the appointment directly with the client. If patients are been referred for advanced imaging then please inform our reception staff at the time of making the appointment to ensure this is booked for the relevant day.

Prior to a consultation, we need information from the referring vet which outlines the nature of the problem, reason for referral and the previous medical and medication history. A cover letter summarising the main clinical aspects of the case is extremely useful along with any relevant radiographs or lab reports. Information including radiographs can now be submitted via our ‘refer a case’ portal.
